Veteran driver Ed Kennedy avoided several accidents and drove his Thunder 2/Daytona Lagoon Chevrolet to a 6th place finish in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200. Along for the ride was first time sponsor Reactor Watch, a California based company that is making its first steps in professional motorsports. "We are very happy to have Reactor Watch with us," Kennedy said. "They have a top quality product and we are proud to have them as part of the Thunder 2 family?" Kennedy survived several tough situations in the accident-filled race. He made several great moves to avoid spinning cars, and also dodged pieces of debris on the track. "A couple of accidents happened right in front of me" Kennedy said. "I had to make some moves to miss cars. One time there was debris across the race track." Kennedy and the Thunder 2 crew faced their toughest challenge during a late race caution. Crew Chief Ralph Solhem made a call to stop and add fuel. "I asked if we had to stop," Kennedy said. "Ralph said we needed to or we wouldn't make it (80 laps). He told me we were very close (on fuel). The stop cost us a few positions, but I was able to pass the cars that passed us and we had a great run." Reactor Watch joined Thunder 2 in January. Their line of quality watches is a great addition to professional motorsports. Reactor has "The Best Built Sport Watches – Period." The hot styling and great looks attract attention. Race fans and racers alike spotted the watches o members of the Thunder 2 crew and asked for more information. "I had members of the media ask me about the watch," Tom Tipton, media and public relations for Thunder 2, said. "Comments ranged from great looks to "That is a quality watch. Every time I talked with members of a team or was in the Media Center at the track I got lots of questions. Members of the media and race teams take notice of new sponsors and their products." During the race that watches were put to the test as Ron Karto, managing partner for Thunder 2 Performance Fluids had to step in and assist the team with fueling the race car. "The team asked me to help with the dump (gas) cans," Karto said. "They were put to the test because there is always the chance that fuel will splash and spray on things. We know we can count on our sponsors and their products, and they can count on us. Reactor came through with flying colors." Thunder 2 is proud to carry the Reactor Watch colors during the 2009 racing season. Fast race cars and a great timepiece are a special combination.
